Summary
I call this a Micro Chess Set because each square of the board is 1" x 1" making the total board size 8" x 8". In order to artificially add weight to the pieces, each chess piece has a small magnet in its base, and each board square has a threaded hole for a set screw. The pieces are based on Staunton chess sets. The board was inspired by other chess boards on Thingiverse. In order to save time and resources a paper board has also been included; if you choose to use the paper board it is unnecessary to 3D print any of the board components or purchase the magnets and setscrews. A complete set will require the following:

  • Light Colored Pieces
  • 2 x Piece Bishop
  • 1 x Piece King
  • 2 x Piece Knight
  • 8 x Piece Pawn
  • 1 x Piece Queen
  • 2 x Piece Rook
  • Dark Colored Pieces
  • 2 x Piece Bishop
  • 1 x Piece King
  • 2 x Piece Knight
  • 8 x Piece Pawn
  • 1 x Piece Queen
  • 2 x Piece Rook
  • Light Colored Board Squares
  • 18 x Board Middle
  • 3 x Board EdgeA
  • 3 x Board EdgeB
  • 3 x Board EdgeC
  • 3 x Board EdgeD
  • 1 x Board CornerA
  • 1 x Board CornerC
  • Dark Colored Board Squares
  • 18 x Board Middle
  • 3 x Board EdgeA
  • 3 x Board EdgeB
  • 3 x Board EdgeC
  • 3 x Board EdgeD
  • 1 x Board CornerB
  • 1 x Board CornerD

The pieces, not board, should be printed with 100% fill. The knight will require a support, this can likely be added by your slicing software.
If printing the paper chess board, it is best to print it without scaling it up or down.
